Monday Music!

*Weekend Recap- Jah- work and family time with DJ Lance/ Saudi- Family time in Nashville.* Mondays are painful hope this gets you lovely people through!*

Must See..... Viva La KUTI!

* I had the absolute pleasure of seeing this off-Broadway play last Thursday with my Grandmother and Mother at Warner Theater here in Washington, DC. The play FELA! highlighted the late great musician and human rights activist Fela Kuti. Fela is responsible for the revolutionary sound of Afrobeat fusing traditional sounds from West Africa with Funk and Jazz. The dancing and singing was immaculate and most definitely a treat! The Warner Theatre is not the best venue, they had some sound issues but the Play overall was amazing .....a must see!

The Cepeda Legacy

Father.......

Son......

*Every time I hear this particular song (Homenaje A Caridad) on my Ipod from this mixed Latin grooves album I get extra hype. The music to my ears sounds absolutely divine from the horns to the congas!!!! The album in which this track was taken from was Putumayo Presents: Puerto Rico. The composer Modseta Cepeda is a Puerto Rican legend and is the son of the late great Don Rafael Cepeda who was also a muscician. Their style of music is called Afro-Puerto-Rican Folk Music. Check them out!*

Thirsty Thursdays

*This song reminds me of two things one of course is being in Jamaica with Jah and the fam and the second is riding around Houston with this song blasting out of the speakers of Beulah (My friend Gaati's cars name). Gaati and I thought we were in the islands at Prairie View always frequenting reggae parties and clubs anything West Indian or International we were there.

*This song simply reminds me of our days in Jamaica and how we always interchange this songs name "Delilah" and put in "Nelajah" which is Jah's older sister.
-Last night the Jamerican crew got together Quadir, Benta, Nelajah, Jah , and myself. We ate sipped a little and talked while playing our favorite reggae tunes from Movado to Turbulence to Popcaan to I wayne to T.O.K to Sizzla and the list goes on and on.......Good Times....If we can't go back to the Islands we will bring them to us.

A Birthday Salute to the 3rd Born Sachdev (BOSS)

She is a dancer...

A sister....

A friend....

A certified BOSS.....

A wonderful young woman who has an enormous amount of compassion for others and undying love for her family.... She is Neha Sachdev.

*Neha has been one of JLS's biggest supporters over the years. From letting us crash at her NYC pad, to keeping being a personal assistant to her older sister Nisha this woman is a very hard worker and one of the most selfless people you will ever meet. We are so lucky to have a sister such as you, and hope you have a kick ass birthday! Much love!
